Setting text field properties
Select a text field with either the arrow tool or the text tool
and choose Modify > Text Field to open the Text Field
Properties dialog box.

The Text Field Properties dialog box contains the following
options:
Variable Specifies the variable name for the text field.
For more information on variables, see Setting
and identifying variables.
Draw Border and Background Displays a border and
background for the text field.
Password Displays only asterisks in the field when a
user types it in the published movie. These cannot be copied or
cut while the movie is playing.
Multiline Enables line breaks when text is entered in
the published movie. It has no affect in the authoring
environment.
Word Wrap Inserts line breaks when text reaches the
right margin in the published movie.
Restrict Text Length To Limits the number of characters
users can enter in the field to the number you specify.
Disable Editing Prevents other users from changing the
value in the field. Use this option when you want to display text
dynamically.
Disable Selection Prevents the user from selecting any
text in the field.
Outlines Lets you choose whether you want to save all
font outlines, none, or only the font outlines you specify with
the published movie. You can limit the inclusion of font outlines
to Uppercase, Lowercase, Numbers, Punctuation, or Characters.
Choosing these options can help reduce the size of your Flash
movie.
